[Sayaka had been thinking for a while, after seeing Mami train and then fight monsters with her at the coliseum. She had been devoting herself to her music lessons, but she realized that she had been neglecting her magical girl duties. After all, a magical girl was supposed to be a hero of justice! She couldn't just forget about it like that.

Plus, without Kyuubey or the Witches... she could have a little more fun with it. The first line of business for her magical girl training crash course:]

... I need to have something to say when I transform to make it more dynamic.

[Yeah. Transformation quotes are always top priority. Sayaka pauses to think deeply for a moment, before coming up with a line. She tries it on for size:]

TRANSFORMATION, HOOOOOOOO! [She trails off, and frowns. That was... horrible.] Nah.

[More thinking! She should use something more eloquent, maybe add a few more words in!]

Uh... Blade and light, cape and knight! CLASH! Swordsman Special Puella Magi Transformation! [Pause. Another frown.] That's too much, and it doesn't even make any sense.

[Ponder ponder ponder. Maybe she should do something more classic, like in those anime shows she watched way back when...]

Sword Soul Gem Power, make-up! Beauty in Blue! [Her expression that followed that line was almost akin to gagging.] Ugh, it just isn't me.

[Some more thinking... Okay! Then how about the modern route?]

Puella Magi Sayaka, target locked on! [The resulting frown on her face indicates she's become more annoyed than before.] That... wouldn't really work, since I'm more of a close range fighter.

[Thinking, more thinking... Maybe if she just changed the last part into something more aggressive...]

Puella Magi Sayaka, breakin' through! [Pause.] Even though it feels like I'm on the right track, I think that line might have been used by someone else before...

[More thinking... More pondering... After several minutes, she grips her head with her hands with a frustrated grunt.]

... Uuuuuurgh! Darn it, I can't think of anything that would make me look cool!

[It was the same with the whole Puella Magi thing. None of them really used transformation quotes, but... That was mainly because there's no time for that when you're fighting Eldritch Abominations. This place has nothing of the sort.

Plus... it's fun. But only if people weren't listening to her brainstorming. :|]

[Sayaka picks up the Dreamberry, a look of embarrassment on her face. Oh well...]

Er... Right! I need to keep it simple, but effective. It only takes a second for me to transform, so at the very least, I can say more than one word.

[A smile. A shrug. He's seen worse. Probably done plenty worse too, come to think of it, and without the excuse of 'it just came on'...

[Normally Ken would wonder why say anything at all. But - well, magical girls. (And why not them, either? Again, this place has done plenty weirder.) Might be stupid to draw attention to yourself, but if you had to transform in the first place... well, how discreet was that? What'd you got to lose by saying something with it?]

I never figured you had to sit down and work this stuff out. I thought you kinda got the catchphrase with the costume.

Well, being a magical girl isn't exactly a glamorous job back home. Plus, it'd be a moot point, since Witches don't exactly understand human language.

[Yes, little girl is talking about this casually.]

Things are different here, though! You don't have to as cautious.

[On glamorous jobs and caution, that is. There's James Bond on one side of the equation and then there's Ken spending his days arranging flowers and better not talk about the rest of it. Things are pretty different here from what Ken's used to as well, and he can't exactly say he minds.

[Ken's no expert on magical girls but isn't it supposed to be all daft outfits and talking cats and sparkles? On the other hand--]

I guess a lotta things only sound like they're gonna be awesome until you're the one's gotta do them all the damn time, though. [Quickly.] I mean like playing sport and stuff. Work's always work, right?

Could be you're overthinking it, though... simple stuff usually works best.

Well, don't get me wrong. I don't mind being a magical girl, since that means I can protect people. It can just... pretty hazardous at times.

You're right, though. Maybe I am just putting too much thought into this.

I figure you'll probably know the right thing when you think of it and you'll probably think of it five minutes after you stop trying to think of it. It's usually how stuff like this works.
